We didn’t re-invent BCAA’s; we just reinvented how you take them. Let’s be honest, nobody buying Legions 8:1:1 BCAA Profile is new to branched chains. We all know that they’re an absolute must have for serious people looking for serious gains. But what you may not know is that it’s not what you take, it’s how you dose it. Legions is a uniquely blended Branched Chain Amino Acid formula that delivers an unheard of 8:1:1 (Leucine to Isoleucine to Valine) ratio.
Peer-reviewed scientific studies have demonstrated that leucine activates the mTOR signaling pathway, which stimulates muscle hypertrophy. If you’ve never heard of mTOR before, it is one of the most under-rated anabolic & protein synthesis pathways known to man. As a result, compounds which target the regulatory pathways of mTOR have been highly sought out for quite some time. A wide range of data has suggested that amino acids are capable of directly regulating mTOR signaling pathways in skeletal muscle, including the possibility that they activate some of the cell signaling elements upstream from mTOR in the insulin-growth factor signaling pathway. Scientists have also discovered that the effects of amino acids on mTOR signaling are eliminated by lowering the concentration of leucine, or increased by adding leucine and, to a lesser extent, the other branched-chained amino acids. In other words, leucine is the star, but it also must be mentioned that the other two BCAA’s, isoleucine and valine, need to be present in order to maximize results.
With that in mind, we’ve formulated Legions with an 8:1:1 leucine-isoleucine-valine ratio. As you know, many brands are doubling, tripling, and even quadrupling their dosage of BCAAs with 2:1:1 and 4:1:1 ratios in order to achieve optimal results. Given the fact that leucine is most likely the amino acid responsible for mTOR signaling, having a formula with an 8:1:1 ratio eliminates the need for increased dosing. Effectively creating an enormous value in addition to the other benefits.
Another issue with poorly dosed BCAA products is amino acid transport and metabolism. All three of the branched chain amino acids – leucine, isoleucine and valine – compete for the same transport systems, and as a result, the presence of high concentrations of the other two branch-chained amino acids may lower intracellular levels of leucine. Obviously not what you want. This is further compounded by the fact that once ingested, leucine first must fulfill other structural roles unrelated to protein metabolism prior to activating mTOR signaling pathways. The result is that BCAA products with a 2:1:1 or 4:1:1 ratio may actually counteract the anabolic effects from the product and are certainly not optimal for your purposes.
By increasing the “normal” ratio of leucine to the other two branched chain amino acids, we ensure two things: First, double and mega dosing isn’t necessary, as we have already doubled the component that is primarily responsible for the protein synthesis increases we see with BCAAs; and second, competitive metabolism between the amino acids will not lower leucine levels to the point that it is unable to regulate mTOR.
There is absolutely no question that the science behind Legions is what the category not only wanted, but was required in order to get the very most out of our sport supplementation. Legions is cost effective, dosed properly, highly effective, and as an added benefit, mixes better than any other BCAA product on the open market. Legions = Results.
